What can I do about my neighbor who has shot my dog with bb's?

I moved into a new home across from a park in Birmingham. Heavily used by dog walkers. Lots of activity. My next door neighbor shot my 5 year old dachschund on a Monday morning and hit her with 2 bb’s. He has denied this to the police. I have photos of our fence kicked in about 2 feet, 14 feet away from where I witnessed my dog collapsing.

Report screaming from his house, and that you think you heard gun fire. Call from a pay phone, but in the same area. Say you were delivering a refrig., had the wrong house, and left because you did not want to be involved, then basically hang up. The next day call the gas company, as if you are the postman, tell them you smell a strong order of gas fumes from their house. Third day, call animal shelter, and indicate you here dogs barking and screaming. They are independent of police, and will also get back to you. Try these three, then get back to me. I have even better ones for day four, five and six

Answer #10

well does your neighbour live with his/her parents? if so you could tell them, but if not then you could get a stronger fence or “accidentaly” break the bb gun :P

Answer #11

Just take him to the vet where the vet can guarantee that the dog was shot so the police have evidence and search for witnisses.

Answer #12

I agree with Phrannie. You could also ‘wear a wire’ and talk to him privately about the shooting. The federal law makes it unlawful to record telephone conversations except in one party consent cases which permit one party consent recording by state law. What that means is a person can record their own telephone conversations without the knowledge or consent of the other party in those states that allow one party consent.

Answer #13

OH MY GOD. Move house! If he isnt going to stop, or if you can’t find a way to proove it to the police, then move. seriously. He could kill your dog.

I think this is disgusting that a person could do anything like this to a dog for no reason.

if you could build a big dog house for your dog, that might work?

you could leave one side completely open (the side that the neighbor cant shoot from) and build up the other side with wood. you could make a roof out of that see through plastic stuff that people use for chicken coops and stuff.

but you have to do something about this. your dog has done nothing wrong. good luck, and I hope the guy falls down his stairs.
