Why do you have to be 18 or older to take diet pills?

The legal age for diet pills is 18 or older. Why? What health risks are involved for younger people taking the pills that are irrelevant to adults on the pills? PS- I am not taking diet pills; I came across this question watching a House episode and I left me curious haha

Well from what I heard from some friends that take them, and now TOOK them, the diet pills can cause you to gain more weight back than you lose once you stop taking them. And 18? Because their dangerous and have some serious hazards.

Answer #6

Before the age of 18, all kids and teenagers are still growing inside and out. At a young age, it is very important to have a lot of vitamins and nutrients to keep healthy. Because diet pills can reverse the effects of what vitamins do, companies who make and distribute there products do not want to have to run into problems. If a child/teenager gets sick or dies from a diet pill, the company(s) will get sued and could lose there company and product. But once you are 18, you are responsible for your own actions and what you put in your body. If one who is 18 dies or gets sick from a diet pill, there isn’t a whole lot that person can do except reporting it .
