I understand that there may have been a big bang theory and that is how the universe started etc. but my question is, even for the big bang to happen, where did any matter or any material in the whole universe ever come from?? I mean, what the f*ck, I get so lost and I get strange feelings just wondering how anything had ever started and where any material, elements or matter would have ever come from. I'm lost here people, help me out a bit will ya. Thanks.

You're right, it's not just happenstance ! - this is my understanding: There are three main views of creation. One is that the Genesis account of creation is accurate—God created the Earth and everything in it in six days and then rested on the seventh. Evolutionists go to the other extreme and spout that a huge explosion in space began the process of developing life and everything has evolved from that. Then there are those who choose to take the middle ground and say that God is involved—He caused the world to exist—but that the six-day account is not literal.

In my opinion, it takes less faith to believe that Almighty God created the earth in six days—He could have done it in six minutes if He chose to—than to believe that some cosmic explosion is responsible for the life and beauty all around us. The creation story is not in conflict with science; it is in conflict with any worldview in which God is absent. When I look at a newborn baby, I cannot imagine a big bang, but I can imagine a loving creator.

The Bible gives no option other than the fact that God is the creator! Read the creation account in Genesis 1 again. You cannot believe part of the Bible and then reject other, more confusing parts. I don’t know how or why He created the Earth the way that He did. I just know that He said it, I believe it; that settles it!

"Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear" (Hebrews 11:3).

"Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him" (Colossians 1:15-16).

Hope this helps !!

A very interesting question with no presently known answer.

Where did God come from? Also interesting, but also with no answer. (I'm sorry but any answer that distills to "Because!" is not an answer, it's a puerile defense.)

BUT, do these questions need answers? I feel that science is ever searching for answers (and then questions the answers.) And religion doesn't feel the need to search because faith is what is desired.

As it now stands, both science and religion have unknowns at their core, things that have to be accepted without proof. And in my opinion therein lies the difference. Science doesn't ignore the elephant in the room.

I think that philosophy is a better counterpart to science in regards to this question than is religion. Partakers can accept questions and answers not at face value and this makes it the prime relevance.

in my opinion, God is outside of the universe. The Big Bang was God's tool that allowed the universe, space and time to come into being. The Big Bang was generated by an enormous amount of energy. From the energy emerged matter and, by evolution, matter, and ultimately life, evolved to where it is today.

This is usually where religion comes in. Many people think God started creation, or that the sky opened up, and the universe was dumped inside of it. There may very well be another reason, but no one today knows what.

The universe did not "begin" through the Big Bang. The Big Bang was a rapid expansion that resulted in the formation of the universe in its current state. Prior to this, it was a concentrated point called a singularity.

We don't know much about the state of the universe prior to this. But we also have no reason to believe the universe even had a definate beginning. It may have always existed, just in different forms than the one we know.

The reason we think things must have a beginning and end is because we do. We are finite creatures, we have an expiration date. Time is something we perceive because of our biological clock. The universe is not finite, as far as we know.

"When I look at a newborn baby, I cannot imagine a big bang, but I can imagine a loving creator. "

To be blunt, that's because it takes a lot of time and effort to understand how the Big Bang could eventually produce a universe where life as we know it exists. Having faith takes no work and requires no thought, and that's what makes it easier.

"where did any matter or any material in the whole universe ever come from?"

The most basic way to show this is with a simple sum.

0 = 1+(-1)

To explain this a bit (keep in mind this is very simple).

You start with nothing
You 'make' something
At the same time you 'make' the compleat opposite
Over all you still have nothing.

I sometimes explain it like this too.

You're standing on level ground, but you want to build a dirt mound. There is no material though, where do you get it from?
Simple, you dig a hole.

"When I look at a newborn baby, I cannot imagine a big bang, but I can imagine a loving creator."

When I look at a newborn baby with a failing heart which only has 60 seconds to live, I would much sooner imagine a big bang...
