How do I save and burn youtube videos?

just want to give some copies of youtube tutorial videos to a friend. so how do you copy them to a vcd? or whatever you call that

I know there are certain extensions you can use on Firefox (one is called VideoDownloader), which lets you save YouTube files. They save as flash videos (I think) with odd extensions, I think .swf..but I could be wrong. You'd then have to use a burning program that supports that file, or re-encode it to a supported video file with a converter.
