Professional help?

Ok right...well basically I have had problems with eating disorders, depression and self-harm for about 6 years now...mainly all down to 2 reasons;
1) My parents having a MESSY divorce when I just turned 11 and
2) something that occurred more recently when I was just turned 15.
Along with these major issues there has been some other more minor things to contribute to the stress...so I feel I am spiralling increasingly faster downhill.

I still dont want treatment for an eating disorder as I feel that that was caused by things other than 'being fat' or whatever...but I was wondering if I should ask for professional help.
I mean I asked my doctor over the phone, what help I would get if I went and asked for it, and they said looking at my history and how long everything has been going on, what I have done and what has happened, chances are I would be admitted to a psychiatric ward for at least a couple of weeks, if I were to accept the best help. They suggested this as they know that I am not one to keep going to councelling sessions etc etc.

So I am SO scared about this possibility. Once I am there I cant come out until my parents or the doctors think its right.

WHAT DO I DO?

If you are feeling that bad...go. I mentioned in an earlier piece of advice that I gave to someone else about a friend of mine. She is pretty bad off. She has gone in to the hospital 2 times and the second was only to adjust her meds. She was really reluctant about going also. Now that she got it over with, she is one of my happiest friends. She is enjoying life and she doesn't even think about cutting or hurting herself anymore. she eats normally and all is great. Going to the hospital is a very scary feeling, but once you do it and get put on the correct meds, you'll be so happy.

The Doctor gave you the answer - it will only be till you're better - if you truely want to get better, the answer is Yes - your choice...I wish you the very best !!

hey I dont know you or what you look like but I do know about all them things you said because my girlfriend is the same way...you just have to stay strong and try to look at the good things in life and relize that weight dont matter. its who you are on the inside and I know it sounds corny...but if people cant like you for who you are then they dont relly care but you just have to find the real people that care..and the whole self harm thing...its what you do cause it feels like its the only thing that can help...but you just have to try to find something that makes you happy and takes the thoughts off your mind and relize the good things in life...and like I said you dont know me and I dont know if any of this will help but if you want to keep talking to me than feel free...im willing to try to help anyone that needs it...peace

well eating disorders, or depression, ect arnt things that people can deal with by themselves
to be cured you do need to get help
and I think you should take the advice he gave you
right now at this part of your life you probably dont want to go there
and might think its unseccessary or too scary
but if you want to get through this and get over it
you need to take that step
it is a pretty big step to take
but its the right one because youve been doing those things for so long
the ward isnt going to hurt you
the only reason there even there is to help people, and help people overcome problems and learn to stop doing them
eating disorder really screw up your boy, even your fertility
its a seriouse illness that needs the best care to work out what the damage is and if it can be fixed
...do yourself a favour and go
youll feel a hell of a lot better once you get it over and done with
