For all the people who quote that verse “Judge not lest ye be judged”, let me give you a new one, “Twist not scripture lest ye be like the Devil”. courtesy of Paul Washer. The Bible instructs us to confess our sins to one another and correct one another in brotherly love. Telling someone that they are doing something wrong is not judging them, for “Judgement is without mercy” James 3, but rather it is correcting them which gives them oppurtunity to fix their problem beacuse it is filled with mercy. I am not going to tell all of you that you are stupid because that is not my place, but I will warn you that God will judge you for misleading people with your ill advised interpretations of scripture if you don’t stop taking His word out of context and twisting it to fit your own agenda.

To answer your question: The Bible makes it very clear that homosexuality is a sin. Please read Leviticus 18:22 and Romans Chapter 1. There is no room for interpretation in these scriptures because they are completely straightforward. Leviticus 18:22 says that “A man shall not lie(old english for ‘have sex with’) another man as he lies with a women, it is an abomination.” These scriptures are have a very obvious interpretation, so homosexuality is certainly a sin.

‘I’ believe in God and that He is the only One and not any person that can judge you or I.

No I am not a lesbian. I am the mother of 5 grown kids. One whom confided to me that he is gay. Well needless to say. I do go to church and I took it like a blow to my faith. B.U.T., then after talking to him (my son), he is a very outspoken individual and he helped me understand his point of view.

He is a very active young man in church and like he says he is going to dedicate his life to God and at the end of the road God will judge him not man.

This is the most sensitive subject there is as far as man and God not church and man, because church is man made. If we were to live every single word as far as the Bible is written not even then would we go to heaven with the judgemental faith and mind that we have.

Gve people a chance to live and learn about God and let God be the judge of us. Life is hard enough without ushaving someone or something to cling to.

I can only encourage you to seek God if that is what your heart desires and of course respect the church and the people in it.

Sometimes we have to give little by little and let people know us first , so that the doors to more knowledge can be opened and we can get a better insight of who God really is. Overall, don’t allow negative people override the positive side of your heart.

God offers salvation to any who come to him, however, there is one part that is often times left out, and that is Repentance…

Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil.

He does it thru faith.

If your son is in church, that is the very best place for him. It is up to him, to repent, and up to the Holy Spirit to bring the change that is needed. Man can’t do it. It is Gods job. It is also the preachers job to preach the whole counsel of God. Not just part of it.

There are deliverance ministries that work with besetting sins, such as this. This is not an easy thing to be rid of, but, not impossible.

With God, all things are possible.

Its a controversy. I saw a Dr.Phil episode about it a while back and both sides had really good points so its really hard to say whether it is truly a sin or not. I guess its based on what you personally believe. Because in the bible there are parts that indicate this type of act would not be a sin, but other parts of the bible indicate these types of things as a sin. It bounces back and forth so you decide for yourself whether you think its a sin or not. I also found this on the internet:

“Being intolerant, unaccepting, critical, rascist, homophobic and anything else that promotes hatred and judgement is a SIN. Anything that hurts another person is a sin. Being gay is not bad - it is a variation of normal. God wants us to love each other not hate and judge each other. I cant believe there are people out there calling themselves “Christian” who are so inclined to cast the first stone. Practice kindness and charity - like Jesus - that is doing Gods work.”

Answer #5

I believe in a God who is big enough to make sure His words are holy and right with all it’s meanings expressed correctly.

The homosexual lifestyle is an abomination unto the Lord. Here a few Bible verses that will help you to understand how God feels about it:

Romans 1:26-27, NIV. “‘Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.’

Is practicing homosexuality a sin? It’s in the Bible, Leviticus 18:22, ‘Homosexuality is absolutely forbidden, for it is an enormous sin.’

Can a practicing homosexual go to heaven? I Corinthians 6:9, ‘Don’t you know that those doing such things have no share in the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who live immoral lives, who are idol worshippers, adulterers or homosexuals—will have no share in his kingdom.’”

Sodom and Gomorrah Destroyed for their homosexual acts:

1 The two angels arrived at Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gateway of the city. When he saw them, he got up to meet them and bowed down with his face to the ground. 2 ‘My lords,’ he said, ‘please turn aside to your servant’s house. You can wash your feet and spend the night and then go on your way early in the morning.’ ‘No,’ they answered, ‘we will spend the night in the square.’ 3 But he insisted so strongly that they did go with him and entered his house. He prepared a meal for them, baking bread without yeast, and they ate. 4 Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom—both young and old—surrounded the house. 5 They called to Lot, ‘Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them.’ 6 Lot went outside to meet them and shut the door behind him 7 and said, ‘No, my friends. Don’t do this wicked thing . . .9 ‘Get out of our way,’ they replied. And they said, ‘This fellow came here as an alien, and now he wants to play the judge! We’ll treat you worse than them.’ They kept bringing pressure on Lot and moved forward to break down the door. . .13 “For we will destroy this place, because the outcry against them has grown great before the face of the Lord, and the Lord has sent us to destroy it.”

Answer #6

Thats a really good question because on one side religous people say that god loves all but then on the other hand they call being gay a sin ?? Will be interesting to read other answers.

Answer #7

to response to iamcool(not) 67%of Goths are of a biblical religion just to let yu know. It’s not a Sin to be Goth, It’s a subculture with no base religion just to let you know perhaps you should try doing some research before you judge

Answer #8

No, if you are a christian, it is wrong to be gay, lesbian, jewish, ( or any other religion ), deformed or disabled, and, most recently, a goth. So yeah, god loves “everyone” exept people who don’t conform with his ideas and expectations.

Answer #9

no its not ok.

Answer #10

“I believe in a God who is big enough to make sure His words are holy and right with all it’s meanings expressed correctly. “

Right, and how does this apply to the Bible?

Answer #11

* “let God be the judge of us.”

(paraphrasing) “Judge not, lest ye be judged” “You point out the splinter in your brother’s eye, while ignoring the log in your own”

Yep, that’s a Biblical perspective alright.

Answer #12

There are several thousand different Christian sects, each teaching their own perspective of Christianity. Many of those sects do not teach gay/lesbian to be sinful. So yes, you can be a Christian and a lesbian.

Answer #13

If you are an enlightened Christian than it is a neutral thing, if you are prudish Christian (or else) then you will find it more than wrong.

Answer #14

I think the bible is used to excuse hatred too much.

It’s like asking how can someone be a soldier and be a Christian? (soldiers kill people… technically it’s murder and is a sin according to the bible) But no one even questions that.

I say be what you want to be, have YOUR beliefs and forget about the rest.

Answer #15

I believe that it was miss interpreted, perhaps by a person whose afraid of homosexual. In the raping of Sodom the man offers his virgin daughters to these gay dudes to be raped. Later the town is destroyed, yes, but he WAS punished. His daughters got him drunk & had sex with him, he impregnating them. What could be more shameful to an elderly gentleman than to be raped by 2 young women, making it worse his DAUGHTERS! I don’t think it was wrong to have sexual relations with the same sex, but to allow your own daughters to be rapped, rapping is a sin, not homosexuality!

Answer #16

1 Corinthians: ‘ Do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Do not be deceived, neither fornicators nor idolaters or adulterers nor homosexuals nor sodomites nor thieves nor covetous nor drunkards nor revilers nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.” ( 9-10)

so I guess it’s a sin?

Answer #17

eleni is right, there is definately a debate over several supposed condemnations of homosexuality in the New Testament. Especially Romans 1 and 1 Corinthians 6.

The word “homosexuals” is not actually used in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 in the original letter. And in Romans 1, while Paul does seem to indicate that homosexual behavior is wrong, he seems to be talking more specifically about homosexual lust, which would fall into the same category as general sexual immorality. Plus, if you read the whole passage, the point is not to condem homosexuality at all, but to tell Christians they shouldn’t judge other people, even if they’re doing these things.

Answer #18

To those Christians who believe in the traditional Bibles as written (such as the KJV) it’s definitely a sin for the reason Ty mentioned above. There are verses that either specifically mention or strongly suggest that homosexuality is wrong.

However, the is some controversy in the scholarly world about whether the words were correctly translated from the original language. Many scholars believe that the words and ideas translated as “homosexual behavior” really talk about temple prostitution which was a big no-no in the Christian community at the time.

Answer #19

well, im athiest, and gay people never bothered me. my family is catholic ( I think) and my mom’s a homophobe. my dad is almost. well, I think that tells us somthing. im not going to preach, im not going to say athiest is the way, but seriously: anyone who says someONE is a sin, is probobly going to church too much. (no offence) but I cant stand it when people tell me to find god, or when they waste what little time they have on this earth. w/e, there choice, not mine. homosexuality is a perfectly fine thing, and not to be made fun of.
