You're going to get a lot of "I believe this" and "No, they're wrong, because I believe this" answers, but let's look at the scientific evidence, going beyond belief.

The scientific method tells us that in order to prove or disprove anything, we need tangible, prooveable, verifiable, repeatable evidence, evidence than can be examined and agreed upon. So far, there has been zero evidence to support the existence of ghosts, nothing that goes beyond stories, feelings, anecdotes, and folklore. That is intriguing, but it isn't science, and it isn't proof.

Only the psychics know for sure if they're faking or not, but so far, there's been no proof of psychic ability either, and lord knows the US Government has tried their hardest to gather that proof.

Actually, nobody knows that. Well, it's actually up to you. If you want to believe in it well go on. It's all up to you whether to believe it or not.

I do believe in ghosts; however, there is really no hard-proof that supports them. Its all possible to fake so it sup to what you want to believe in! I personally believe in them but if you dont thats cool and if you do thats cool too :] keep in mind not all ghosts are bad! lol

If you believe in something enough, it will become true to you. If you look for ghosts, or fairies, or nymphs, or Santa Clause, they will show up in your life.

I Believe in ghost, theres a lot of things science cannot explain and since most are afraid of what they dont know they call it fake. In fact a lot of things that were considered fake or "Fairy Tales" have been found to be real, but a lot of scientist dont put they're pride aside and admit they were wrong. So pretty much its if you believe ghost are real that would be your own personal opinion.

No. If they existed, it would be possible to construct a test that reliably showed their existence. In the absense of any such test (and plenty of failed attempts), it's reasonable to suppose they don't exist - just as it's reasonable to suppose that fairies, gnomes and leprechauns don't exist.

arachnid, Godel showed that in any complete mathematical system that not all true theorems could be proven and not all false theorems could be disproven.

Thus if Ghosts exist it may or may not be possible to prove them.

Also, if Ghosts do not exist it may or may not be possible to disprove them.

The absence of a proof of Ghosts can not be taken as proof that they don't exist.

As you said, it is reasonable to suppose that ghosts don't exist but you can not use the absence of a proof as evidence.

Been in real estate for 10 years. Have been in over 1000 houses alone. Have never ever seen or heard anything even close to paranormal. I don't believe in it at all.

filletofspam: Your reference to godel is useless except in the allegorical sense (reality not being a mathematical system), but I take your meaning. I didn't say that they definitely couldn't exist, though - just that in the complete absense of any evidence for their existence, there's no more reason to suppose they exist than there is fairies, gnomes, or leprechauns - less, in fact, since many people have attempted to prove the existence of ghosts, and failed.

arachnid, logic is a mathematical system. We use logic in any proof. Godel's incompleteness theorem applies.

To be honest with you, I believe in ghosts. just watch ghost hunters they are still proving if there are and I think yes

filletofspam: Yes, and hence you can use logic to apply to your theorems - but not to the world at large. You can't say "Godel showed all sufficiently capable systems of formal logic have unprovable truths, therefore the universe has unproveable truths" without first proving that the universe is a system of formal logic. Since (as far as we know) the universe isn't, your comparison to Godel is only illustrative, not a proof.

Jesus spent a large amount of his time on earth, dealing with spirits, however, all of them, that are mentioned were within people. There have been too many reports of spirit manisfestations to discount it. However, it is an area most folks don't want to go, me included.

I was reading some postsecrets (its when you write your secrets on a post card and send them in with out your name on it or anything) anyways peoople get really into it.
and on one of them it said
'' I work as a psychic/medium and I have never seen a ghost in my whole life. ''
that made me laugh.
but just because one person can't doesnt mean that all the others don't see things.
its all up to how much you want to believe.
