Only some version of the PS3 have backwards compatibilaity ( Play PS2 games) I think those version that do are the 40 and 60GB Not sure about the 20gb But I knwo for a fact that the newest PS3 80gb will not play ps2 games. I made the mistake of buying one when my ps2 died from static shock, and then found out they took out the chip that lets you play PS2 games on it! T_T
From the sales people, the older PS3 consoles do play PS2 games, however, some of them don’t :( So make sure you ask when you buy it if that particular PS3 console can play the PS2 games.
