how do I convince my parents to get me birth control pills?

I’m 16 and I want to go on birth control. I’m a virgin and I plan on staying that way for a while but I want it because I get really bad cramps. how can I convince my mom to let me get it.

I do have a boyfriend so my mom will think that I want it because I’m going to have sex but I’m not.

dont… if you’re not sexually active, I don’t recomend it… as bad as your cramps are, the pill makes you real hormonal and makes you gain mad weight 3 out of 5 girls I know who are on it have gained 6-10lbs!! and if you don’t gain weight you’ll get real naseious and tend to puke a lot!! sure they make your cycle accurate and all… but you don’t nessesarily get rid of the cramps, plus you have the side effect of puking or gaining weight!!

I reccomend taking midol or if that dosen’t help ask your family doctor to perscribe you a special pain killer!!

I think if you are not having sex then you don’t need it. the birth control is bad in so many ways. it has some complications. they have side effects that you don’t want to get. so if you don’t need it don’t take it! use midol or what works best for me is advil and ahot bath. it relaxes you.

I strongly recommend Aleve. My cramps get so bad I’m in the fetal position crying. But I found that I take 3 Aleve and my cramps are gone the entire day. But I also take it like 10 mins after I wake up, before they arrive. Because it’s hard to get the pain to go away so fast when its already there. You know what I mean?

Umm butterflykizz3z the pill doesn’t give everyone side effects. Depends on you as a person and what you are using. I am using the pill to help my cramps. Which used to be so bad that I had to skip school or university and even painkillers didn’t work. I also haven’t had a single side effect.

I suggest that next time it is your period. Ask you mother if she can take you to the doctor so that you can get some proper medicine for your period cramps. Then you can tell the doctor that you would prefer the pill. Parents are more inclined to listen to other people telling them something than their children.
