Help?! I dont know much about my fish...

I have 12 Convict cichlids (zebra cichlid) they’re about 11 months. I went to a trip (back then I had 23 cichlids) and when I came back my friend told me 11 of them died.She didint know why, but she said that the water got really cloudy. So when I got home, I cleaned their tank again.In less than 3 hours the water was cloudy again. So then I put them in another tank.And the next day the water was cloudy again. Whats going on? My fish suddenly started to swim in circles at the top of the water in stead of hanging out in the bottom.

This white stuff is bacteria in the water. Do you have a working filter running in your tank and have you been changing the filter every other week? You also need to do water changes at least once a month. You may need a bigger stronger filter to accommodate all the bacteria.
