God and Fate?

first off let me explane the diffrence between fate and destiny. Fate is a something that will happen no matter what you do insomuch that Oedipus was fated to marry is mother. Destiney is the path we are on in life and where it gos. paths can be changed but Fate cannot. to the question. to my understanding Chritanity dosn’t believe in fate and dose believe that God gave us free will. If thats so than its also believed that God knows everything we are going to do before we are born. if thats so and God is infallible than we have no choise in what we do caues God already knows and he is infallible. Thats Fate is it not?

This question is NOT a “God isn’t real thing and heres prof” this is a true question

Answer #1

I beleive that God does know what you will do and be in your life, but not how you will get there. So In that way God does know your fate but leaves your destiny up to you.

Answer #2

its a question but not a question of is it fate or destiny the question is if God is infallible than we have no choise in what we do caues God already knows and he is infallible. Thats Fate is it not?

Answer #3

Just because God knows what you will choose doesn’t mean he forces you to choose it. So maybe that’s why it isn’t considered fate. However, some Christians believe that the elect are chosen before birth and everyone else is out of luck. That definitely smacks to me of fate.

Answer #5

Fau… love your answer!!!

And I believe that Fate… is Satans pathway for us. You proved it, by saying that person was “Fated “ to marry … his mother… Yuck.

I think destiny is Gods path. He predistines us to be saved. Means that he has made everything possible for us to receive what he has for us. And destiny is the path that takes us there. Destiny does not push, it leads. Fate pushes, So, does Satan. and leaves one no way out. Destiny offers us a choice.

Answer #6

To say that God knows everything that’s going to happen, necessarily implies a deterministic model of reality, which is of course inconsistent with the idea of apodictic free will.

But then what’s the alternative? …nondeterminism, aka randomness. If the nature of reality is fundamentally nondeterministic, then that also isn’t consistent with the idea of apodictic free will.

So the real problem in this case is not the idea of omnipotence, but the idea of apodictic free will, which fails regardless of any gods.
