What exactly is foreign ownership when talking about the media?

and how does it affect a country? I have been reading much on this, but seem to be rather confused on it still.

Answer #1

Every country has their own regulations regarding foreign ownership but the concept is pretty much similar when it comes to foreign companies investing in a country’s media market. Foreign media ownership, that is companies will be allow to own print, radio and television interests in one market, this encourage increased in diversity, new sources of information and entertainment. On another note, most communist countries, the idea of foreign ownership in their media market would be next to none as the government has a very tight control over what can be printed and dished out to the public.
