Fear of dogs

How would you explain to overcome a fear of dogs?

Answer #1

Yep best way it to start off with a small dog and work your way up. Dogs are only as good as the owner treats them. A loving home will bring up a loving dog because dogs are followers by nature/domesitcation. Lifeseeker is right, you are missing out on one of the greatest joys in life.

educate yourself about them. Try to place your self in an atmosphere with a nice dog. labs are usualy pretty laid back. maybe start off with a small dog, sometimes bigs dogs are overwhelming. maybe see if there is someone you know with a service dog. they are extrememly well behaved. you need to recognize the gentle sweet spirit that dogs have…most of them. No one can tell you about it, you have to feel it for yourself just like everything else in the world. Good for you to want to get over this fear because I am telling you that you are missin out on the best part of life. I would not be complete without the dogs in my life. I guess dogs are not for everyone, but there is a reason why they are so popular. check it out and good luck. I will send you all of my positive love and energy in your quest.

Desensitize yourself by visiting friend’s with friendly dogs…Dogs who are not shy, or protective…one’s that just want to be petted, and do meet and greets. Start out by just doing it for a few minutes, and start working up to longer periods of time…The more you’re around them, the more you learn to “read” them…you’ll soon see that they smile, and their eyes give away if they are happy, content, excited…Your confidence will grow from familiarity.
