Dogs coming into heat??

My puppy is nearly 6months old and I have a 2yr old male westier to. My vet has told me that they wont spay her till after her 1st season! Will there be and signs of change of mood/actions when she is coming into season (other than bleeding)? Will she be tierd or snappy? What effect will her being in season have on my other male westie?

Just want to fully prepared!!!

My male westie is donr and I fully intend to get her done to!

I agree completely with Harley. There is no good reason to wait until after the first heat. You really should find another vet, one that has stayed current on vet medicine and understands the importance of spay/neuter.

And my hat is off to you for spaying your puppy. What a good owner you are!!!

well I would find another vet because the person giving you the info is wrong, call a couple other vets and see what type of answer you get.

Answer #3

ok more than likely your dog will get lazzy and she will go in and out of mood swings. also if you see your male dog mount her dont touch them at all because if you do you could cause injury to both the dogs. I hope I helped

Answer #5

Answer #6

I have no idea why your vet would wait till after the first heat, I would question him on this, as soon as the dog goes into heat her chances of not getting certian types of cancer signfically increases, if they never have gone into heat the percentage is much lowere, I work at a vet hospital and I have never heard of waiting until after the first heat, we start at 6 months, what is the point of letting her go into heat???
