Do I have to wait until next period to start birth control??

Ok here’s the deal! I just went to the doctors and got prescribed birthcontrol. The doctor told me to wait until my next period to begin taking the pill. I am getting married in july and want the pills to be in my system before I have sex (first time will be wedding night)…the doctor said it takes about 2 wks to get in your system. If I wait until my next period (since mine are irregular a lot of times) it may not come until the end of june (and I have already had mine for may) therefore it may not be enough time to get in my system. Do I have to wait until my next period (eps. Since I am not having sex) or can I start taking them now…so that they are in my system?? Thanks.

Answer #1

Follow doctor’s advice… And if you read the paper that comes with the pills, that’s where it should say when to start and I can guarantee it will be the same

Answer #2

follow the doctors advice - it’s quite a sensitive system and you don’t want to pernamently disrupt it
