How much boost should I be pushing for my '01 2.5L RS Imprezza? (read more)

i was wondering how much boost i should be pushing for my 01 2.5L RS imprezza thats twin turboed, im currently set at 4lbs because it is my daily driver and i dont want to burn much gas, but once i get a toggle switch in i should be able to switch between two levels of boost “street” and “track” and i was wondering what kind of boost would run well in the 2.5L with stock internals. as far as the “track” setting would go.

I’m not understanding what you’re asking. The stock EJ25 twin t/c should already be at 13-14.5psi. If you’re on 4psi, then that’s lower than stock and you aren’t utilizing the potential (that engine has high 8:1 compression).

My advice is that if you plan on going up to 20psi+ then it would be best to change the injectors, fuel pump, and pistons as the stock ones might not be good (also considering it’s an old model year). In addition to that, I hope you know that even with more psi and newer internals, without higher octane fuel, you won’t be getting near as much power anyway.

Assuming you are at 4psi and not 4psi over stock (17-18psi). Also, it was confusing because you can’t convert (easily) pounds to psi as pounds is weight and psi is pressure.

sorry what i meant was psi, there was a new engine dropped in it along with differnt stock turbos before i bought it, its running two VF39 turbos i heard they are pretty powerful so i set it really low, im not looking for the best power right now, just enough to get me by until i can get that toggle switch to have it set for two different psi levels, the car has yet to be tuned, mainly because i had to buy a new ECU just to get it running.
