You are born left or right handed, it’s passed down in your genes the same way hair color, eye color, mental conditions, sexuality, skin color, are.

yes, in a way you instintly know what hand a pen or pencil feels more comfortable in when you start writing with it however, people can change the hand they write with some people can write with both hands some are born with it, others practice and it only takes about 9 years of practice to switch from being left handed to right handed or vice versa
